The goal was to find a ring that was black on black; however, a malleable black metal suitable for jewelry-making does not exist. Instead, we went with 18 karat yellow gold with an enhanced black diamond. The 18 karat provides a beautiful contrast on the dark diamond. The ring is a traditional solitaire with claw prongs.

My dad sold this couple their original engagement ring in the early 1990s. It featured a 1 carat marquise diamond in a 14 karat yellow gold tiered bypass ring. After a couple decades, she lost the original ring and just wore a band. For their 30th anniversary, her husband commissioned a remake with a larger center diamond. We designed the ring from his memory and a pixelated photo from their wedding.

A couple stopped into my office to discuss engagement rings. She mentioned she inherited a 2 carat marquise diamond and showed it. The diamond is one of the prettiest marquises I have ever seen: well cut, white, and very few flaws. We designed a ring that features just how pretty the diamond is. This wide ring is made in the platinum with a custom, wax-carved head and a rose gold shadow band.

The setting features a marquise going across the finger or East-West style as opposed to the traditional setting way or up and down or North-South. We have made this ring in yellow gold. We custom-make this ring for each marquise to ensure the size and shape of the ring contours closely to the diamond. We also like this ring because its flat sides and narrow profile allow a wedding fit nicely against it.

I love beautifully engraved jewelry. Now, most engraving is completed either in the casting or via machine. It looks just fine; we often engrave with these methods in the office. Hand engraving is the next level up. The details are more vivid; the patterns flow more naturally. This solitaire ring is die-struck, which means it is made in the methods similar to how we did it in the 1930s and features hand engraving.
